Go back to Our Earth

Stephen Vincent Benet (1898 - 1943)
Our Earth

Our earth is but a small star in the great universe. Yet of it
we can make, if we choose, a planet unvexed by war, untroubled
by hunger or fear, undivided by senseless distinctions of race,
color or theory.

(Prayer written for and read by President Franklin D. Roosevelt
to the United Nations on Flag Day, June 14, 1942)
